About us
In a selection of random, carefully controlled, non-scientific experiments we have probably proven over the last five years and on several different continents that it is a certain fact - Festival Tails are an aid to increased fun, shenanigans and an accelerator down the road of general misbehaviour!
We’ve discovered that ‘swinging your tail’ taps into the very essence of festival fun, knocking down social inhibitions and fostering pleasurable interactions between random people. We have personally witnessed examples of tails improving dance technique, increasing the attractiveness of the individual, being used as a tool for deep communication and finally as an exciting aid to love making.
Initially, we developed a few tails to wear and share at the Burning Man festival in Nevada, enlisting the help of our Nan to make them. The tails were a hit and we had great fun sharing them! In 2010 we decided to expand the idea, make more tails and to see if we could bring some tail fun and colour to some of our favourite UK festivals. Whilst Nan enjoyed making a small amount of tails; she was less keen when we suggested a quantity of several thousand! We therefore decided to seek out appropriate manufacturing services, especially looking at social enterprises. Our search led to Textiles by St.Annes, part of BITA Pathways, a Birmingham based charity specialising in rehabilitation services for adults experiencing mental ill health. We’re thrilled to be working with Textiles of St.Annes and all our festival tails have been lovingly made in their textile workshop. We’re happy to see the making of our tails being used to train and provide therapy through work experience. In 2011 we established a partnership with Panthera, a prominent global wild cat conservation charity and the team behind the highly acclaimed BBC documentary series 'Lost Land of the Tiger'. We're really excited to be working with Panthera and supporting their mission to ensure the survival of big cats for future generations. Festival Tails will be promoting Panthera on the UK festival circuit and donating a percentage of tail sales to their cause.
The Festival Tail concept is an all inclusive one, encouraging festival participation through the fitting, displaying, stroking and swinging of tails. We hope to meet some of you this summer whilst we swing our tails to a few choice tunes in the sunshine!
Big tail love & hugs from,
