Shambala Festival. Music, magic & mayhem!

September, 12th, 2010

It was Festival Tails first visit to Shambala and what a fantastic surprise. This ‘right sized’ and independent event certainly lived up to its reputation for being a warm, friendly, creative and family-friendly festival with a wild side.

We offer big congratulations to Shambala for its inclusive, participatory feel. Throughout the whole weekend we met colourful people wearing wonderful costumes with Saturday being the official fancy dress day building to a huge procession – many a tail was seen swinging in the biggest, liveliest most colourful carnival procession we saw during our 2010 festival tour. There must have been a least 3,000+ costume wearing festival goers in the procession which was a super spectacle of colour and noise.

Once again, thanks to the people who have created something special at Shambala and to all the hard working organisers and crew who delivered a great festival despite the bad weather leading up to the event. The mud dried up, the sun came out and the perfect weekend was had by all. We hope to see you all next year.

Snowboarders go bigger when wearing tails

Snowboarders go bigger when wearing tails

Festival Tails sponsored professional snowboarding duo Dany and Nick Jones who are currently in Les Deux Alpes, France on a glacier at 3600m testing the concept that boarders go bigger whilst wearing tails.

In a number of carefully controlled experiments, watched by groups of admiring young pretty French girls, the lads have concluded that wearing a Festival Tail whilst jumping has definite advantages.

A downside to the experiment has been some jealous asides from the tail-less European men who can only look on awe as Dany & Nick go bigger, higher, harder and longer both on and off the slopes.

Secret Garden Party probably the UK’s best festival!

August, 1st, 2010

We’re convinced that The Secret Garden Party is probably the UK’s number one festival! SGP seems to attract the loveliest people; add their warmth, smiles, laughter, generosity and creativity to the sunshine and you get a strong, sustained magical vibe that singles out SGP as a very special event on the international festival calendar.

Festival Tails had a ball welcoming people to our tail swinging zone. Fitting colourful furry tails to so many Gardeners  was a great buzz!

We’d like to thank the SGP organisational team for making us feel so welcome and spending time with us (Lisa, Bean, Ed and Jamie;) Our neighbours Wetshave (Pat), Wotsocurling (Oscar), The Forum (Tom) and Never-Ever Land Theatre (Simon) for their friendliness, inspired creativity and tolerance to our music policy! Finally we’d like to thank the Festival Tails crew for creating our venue and making it so appealing to visitors – special thanks to the décor ladies, our DJ’s and the numerous visiting DJ’s who played sets, Over The Moon Tents, The Hanky Panky Sound System and Sean Johnson (DJ and live graffiti artist).

Hope to see you all swinging your tails at SGP 2011!

We’re excited to announce that Hanky Panky DJ’s have been booked to play at the Festival Tails tent @ Secret Garden Party 22nd – 25th July. Hanky Panky will be providing the dancefloor bombs each night from Thurs through to Sunday night, what can we say … absolutely bloomin marvellous!

Going since the early nineties, Hanky Panky are DJ’s & events specialists who love to play rapturous dance music. Having personally sampled numerous HP parties we can definitely confirm their claims to be party fire starters, vibe charmers and sunbeam magicians!

Crime levels at Glastonbury fall thanks to police wearing tails!

June, 25th, 2010

Crime levels at Glastonbury have fallen for the second year running and senior officials are stating that the fall is a direct result of a trial where a section of police officers wore tails.

Avon and Somerset Police said there were 393 reported crimes during this year’s festival compared to 445 in 2009 and 483 in 2008. There were 230 thefts from tents during the festival, which was the biggest type of crime, followed by drug offences. There were 22 reported personal thefts this year which is down from 61 last year.

Police said that more than 170,000 people, including visitors and workers, attended this year’s event and an estimated 99.7% of them were not victims of crime.

DCI Gene Hunt said: “Every year we work closely with Glastonbury Festivals Limited (GFL) as well as our other partner agencies, such as Festival Tails, to ensure that the festival remains a safe environment and that crime remains low.

“Once the dust settles on the festival site, planning will once again get under way for Glastonbury 2011, with the aim of making the festival even safer, almost a guarantee, with the decision taken to issue tails to all officers as standard kit.”

Festival Tails at Secret Garden Party!

June, 9th, 2010

Festival Tails are confirmed as participating performers at The Secret Garden Party 22nd – 25th July, 2010

“The Secret Garden Party is a temporary community that is as free, irreverent, friendly and engaging as it is possible to be. It is conceived as a moment in the year where you can connect to your creative powers, explore your wildest fantasies and meet thousands of people who all want to meet you. It is a gathering that exists for only four days – away from cities and schedules, brands and boundaries – founded on participation and with the potential to change your life. It is a festival of the arts…where everyone is the artist.”

Come and find us. We’ll be in our army field hospital tent where you can choose a bespoke tail that matches both your personality and festival attire. We will personally fit your chosen appendage – a safe and straightforward procedure, described by many as a pleasurable and deeply-liberating experience. The party with us later at our sunset tail swinging dance party!

Tail Swinging Dance Party

May, 25th, 2010

Festival Tails are delighted to announce that we are in the final stages of negotiations to bring a full-on ‘Tail Swinging Dance Party’ to one of this summer’s major UK festivals. By day, we will have a team of highly skilled Festival Tail consultants, surgeons and nurses performing tail fitting operations to festival goers within our field hospital tent (provided by our friends at Over the Moon Tents), whilst at night we will clear the debris and transform the tent into a tail swinging dance party with decor, light show, pumping sound-system and guest DJ’s! More details to follow….
